Summary of doctoral thesis: My thesis investigates how Zhu Xi's position on the one and many Li develops yinyang/correlative thinking, a "special" way of thinking that is unique to ancient Chinese thinkers. Part of my thesis tracks and analyses the precedent form of correlative thinking proposed by A.C.Graham, particularly the mechanisms of correlation. This will serve as the basic framework which I use to discuss the relation between one and many Li as conceived by Zhu Xi.
Other research interests: Philosophy of Science (general): explanations; informal logic: logical forms of argumentation; metaphysics: identity, one and many, ambiguity & vagueness.
