Summary of doctoral thesis: The basic question I shall answer in my doctoral thesis is: why is the Zhuangzi written in such a remarkable way? What are the philosophical significance of these literary forms? I deploy the literary form approach in my analysis of the Zhuangzi and argue that its form is part of its philosophical content. After the analysis of its form of narrative, irony and paradox, I shall conclude that the Zhuangzi is a text performing "dao" instead of representing "dao".
